Analysis of flooding from urban development October 1999 Centre County, PA In response to the increased complexities and concern surrounding urban runoff, watershed and flood plain management, and urban water quality on both a local and national level, Sweetland Engineering & Associates, Inc. has created a Water Resources Group. This group compliments services currently provided through the firm's Municipal Engineering and Land Development Departments and permits the firm to provide specialized services in water resources to local, regional and national clients. Specialized water resources services include:
Analysis of channel hydraulics October 1999, Centre County, PA
Representative Projects include: PENN STATE UNIVERSITY—Fox Hollow Drainage Basin (FHDB) Provided Stormwater management planning and conveyance system design within the Fox Hollow Drainage Basin (FHDB) on the University Park Campus. Work includes: Watershed Hydrologic Response Model (to develop a model which can be used to assess proposed land use changes within the watershed and assist in the assessment of future stormwater improvements in the FHDA); Infrastructure Needs Analysis (to identify phased development of major stormwater infrastructure for the watershed); Stormwater Management Plan and Technical Standards Manual (to provide a framework for stormwater management and stormwater conveyance design within the FHDA); and Fox Hollow Conveyance System Design (redesign the Fox Follow Conveyance System using updated hydrology based on build-out optimization within the watershed). LOGAN TOWNSHIP STORMWATER STUDY Performed analysis and design for various stormwater remediation measures for low to medium density residential area. Developed and calibrated hydrologic model of study area with HEC-HMS. Study concluded by providing the township with several potential structural and policy alternatives. FRANKSTOWN TOWNSHIP STORMWATER STUDY Performed analysis, designed, and permitted a stormwater remediation project for low to medium density residential area. Analysis included identification of unique remediation measures appropriate for site specific soil types (fragipan soils). PENNSYLVANIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION Provided training in the following courses: Introduction to Highway Hydraulics; HEC-RAS; Culvert Design; Practical Highway Hydrology; and Urban Drainage Design (HEC-22). SPRING CREEK WATERSHED Prepared Phase I and Phase II Study for Centre County Commissioners. Study area encompassed Centre County. This plan, completed under Pennsylvania Act 167, is the first stormwater management plan in the state to include storm water quality standards and criteria. Completed 2000. Houserville Stormwater Management Remediation Project Performed analysis, designed, and permitted a multi-phase stormwater remediation project for medium density residential area in flood prone areas.
